The design of this light is good - the brushed metal finish looks nice, and the low-profile design keeps the light well hidden below a cabinet.But the light is not at all "bright" as advertised.It has two levels of brightness - high and low - but even the high is not enough to really light up properly.I bought the style that comes with an AC adapter, and found that if you use only the adapter (not installing any batteries), the two-way lighting level switch only provides the low-level lighting, regardless of which way you press the switch.Only after installing batteries would the switch provide both the high and low light levels.
The problem with that is that I bought this light to install under a loft bed and over the child's desk that is below the bed.I purchase this light specifically because of the adhesive velcro installation option - as the furniture I am using it with is high-end and I did not want to use any screws in the finish.
However, because I had to install the batteries - and it takes a total of 6 AA batteries - in order to get the light to function on the high setting, the weight of the fixture exceeded the adhesive velcro tab's ability to stay glued to the wood surface, and the light fixture kept falling down.
Long story short, I had to screw it in anyway, and if I had known that from the outset that the light level was so low, I would have ordered a light that really provided proper light levels for reading and working at a desk, and just planned to have to screw it up from the git-go.
